LO1 Adobe InDesign Pre-Lim contents page

Desktop publishing program. It is used to layout print based products. e.g magazines and newspapers and posters and books.
I will be using this program for the contents and the DPS of my magazine.

Setting up a InDesign document
He is a image that represents that shows how I set up the height, width, gutters and margins. The gutter means the space between the columns

Import images
Rectangle frame tool(box with an x) is used to place images in InDesign
always use big pixel photos

add and edit text

Use the Text tool to make a box for the text
Type in box and use character formatting controls and paragraph to format the style and layout
bassline shift tool to move the text down
use colour palette to change the colour if the text and the box.

add and edit colours

I have used the rectangle tool to create a rectangle block and used the colour tool to change the colour of the shape.  Use RGB or CYMK to colour match the colours used in photoshop to match the ones in InDesign.
Adding solid shapes
I inserted a solid shape with the house style as the rest of the magazine is following the house style. I used the logo from my front cover masthead to show that this contents page is within the magazine. I purposely had too different fonts as it indicates the magazines logo and what is happening this week.

Page Numbers
I followed Kerrangs contents page and added solid rectangles telling the reader what the topic of these certain pages are. I used solid rectangles to highlight the page numbers, making them stand out and innkeeping with the house style.

Graphics
I added a little front cover graphic as I was using Kerrangs contents page as a template and I saw that they use a little graphic of their front cover on their contents page. I put my graphic slightly above the middle rectangle to make it visible but not in the way.
