• black and white and red with san serif links with the genre of music e.g black link with heavy metal music because of musicians wear this colour creating a ideal self image.

• ALT - short for alternative which is the genre of music which in most of the magazine. Corner masthead showing more of artists.
• Alternative - a masthead going along the top of the front cover, connoting the genre of the music to the reader increasing income because of the direct exposure to the target audience.
• ALTrock - music genre, capital letters mixed with lower case letters show a rebellious attitude as it is not traditional English.
